Greg Mason

Greg started his career as a sales engineer in the HVAC industry in 1992. With over 30 years of experience servicing owners, engineers, and contractors in the mechanical construction industry he has gained a great deal of understanding what the customer requires. Greg graduated from Temple University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1992 and continued his education at night to receive his MBA from Temple University in 1999 while working as a sales engineer.

In 2010 Greg joined ATS as a sales engineer to help expand the product lines available in the DC Metro area. The team has experienced continued growth in these products and market areas since Greg joined the team.

In 2020 Greg became President of Advanced Thermal Solutions.

Vice President

Kurt Wallace

Over the course of 20 years, Kurt Wallace has distinguished himself in the HVAC industry as a Sales Engineer focused on customer support. His hands on experience in the HVAC industry and entrepreneurial spirit has allowed him to provide industry leading HVAC products and a high level of customer support in his role as Vice President of Advanced Thermal Solutions.

Forging strong relationships with manufacturers and end users, his clear vision guides all aspects of the business, bringing with him an unparalleled commitment to integrity, service, and attention to detail set forth by the customer. Kurt has been a member of ASHRAE and CASHE where he served on the CAB Board.

As a Maryland native and graduate from Washington College, his undergrad studies provided Kurt with a balance between business classes, college baseball and an internship that lead to a position serving as an Intelligence Officer for the Office of Naval Intelligence. He was also a member of Kappa Alpha Order.

Senior Sales Engineer

Gus Karayinopulos

Gus is a senior sales engineer for Advanced Thermal Solutions (ATS). He attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute High School and graduated from Drexel University with a BSME and was accredited with his EIT.

Gus has 30 years of experience as a Manufacturer’s Representative in the HVAC and Air Distribution Industry. This foundation continues to contribute to the ongoing growth of Advanced Thermal Solutions specializing in Commercial Custom Air Handling Units and Variable Frequency Drives, as well as, top tier HVAC Product Lines and Product Service & Engineering Solutions.

Gus is committed to the Engineering Community and is an active member of ASHRAE (Past President 93-94), The Building Congress and Exchange, and The Engineering Society of Baltimore. Gus also serves on the Board of The Community College of Baltimore County.

Matt Francis

Matt has worked at Advanced Thermal solutions since 2012.  He graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park where he studied Mechanical Engineering.  Matt has lived in the Baltimore area all his life and currently resides in the Federal Hill neighborhood on the south side of Baltimore. Matt is active member of ASHRAE and helps coordinate events for the Young Engineer’s Association (YEA) along with Matt Hart.

Matt Hart

Matt graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering.  Before joining ATS, he worked in the construction industry as a project engineer for Whiting-Turner.  At ATS, he works with customers to determine technical solutions to complex HVAC projects. Matt is active member of ASHRAE and helps coordinate events for the Young Engineer’s Association (YEA).

Matt enjoys the outdoors and can be found skiing or golfing when not in the office.

INside Sales Engineer

Jonathan Votta

Jonathan has always been in/around the construction industry from a very young age. His father had a local engineering firm where Jonathan was introduced to many contractors, owners, & other engineer via networking events or job site visits with his father. As Jonathan got older prior to graduating college and starting his career he would work for local contractors during the summer & winter breaks. During this time Jonathan developed problem solving skills and gained an understanding of customer’s expectations throughout the life cycle of a construction project dealing with project managers, foremen, laborers, & engineers.

After graduating from Coastal Carolina in 2010 with a degree in business management, Jonathan joined ATS as a sales assistant. Jonathan has worked his way up to a sales position where he deals with contractors & owners on a day-to-day basis. Jonathan is active in various professional organizations such as ASHRAE (Baltimore Chapter), Building Congress & Exchange, Maryland Construction Network, and Maryland Contractors Association.

Outside of work Jonathan enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 daughters around their home in northern Baltimore Co. or on vacation (normally Ocean City, MD). Jonathan is also a very avid golfer and also enjoys spending time on the golf course with his friends

Jeff Lavell

Jeff has a BSEE and an MBA from the University of Buffalo. Before joining ATS, he worked for Johnson Controls as a Systems Application Engineer. At ATS, he enjoys managing larger projects, packaging proposed solutions to HVAC requirements, and providing excellent customer service to our customers. Jeff is a member of ASHRAE.

When not in the office, he can be found at the beach or tending his pellet smoker while enjoying a fine bourbon.

Senior Field Engineer/After market sales

Ed Wenker

Ed has worked in the HVAC industry for 25 years. Before joining ATS, Ed worked most of his 25 years at Johnson Controls. At ATS, Ed works primarily with owners focusing on aftermarket service and sales. Ed has a strong background in control systems, this allows him to navigate large owner sites to diagnose problems and provide direct solutions with the ATS Equipment Line.

Ed is an avid fisherman and can be found most weekends out on the water with his wife and 3 children.

Matt Beil

Matt is a Baltimore native who attended University of Maryland, College Park and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Prior to joining Advanced Thermal Solutions, he worked as a project engineer and field service engineer. He specializes in design, implementation, and troubleshooting of control systems and variable frequency drives. Matthew’s extensive field experience is valuable in helping customers find solutions to any HVAC issues they may be facing. ATS is lucky to have Matthew on board!

Matt works as the ATS service manager to direct the ATS technicians and help customer solve their field issues.

James Carloni

James Carloni graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. After graduation James worked in the Petroleum equipment industry as a design engineer for three years before moving to Maryland to start working at York International Corporation. Over the past 25 years James worked at York which was acquired by Johnson Controls Incorporated as a sales engineer. James has focused primarily on the higher education and government sectors throughout his career and brings a wealth of knowledge in system design and engineering applications to the ATS team. Jim’s areas of expertise include hybrid equipment plant applications, chilled water, heating, and airside systems, project management and execution.

Joe Petty

Joe joined ATS in 2017 as a sales engineer.  For the previous 7 years, Joe worked as a design engineer in the Baltimore area for Leach Wallace Associates and AECOM. His design experience includes projects in the health care, transportation, and aviation sectors.

Joe is a Baltimore native who graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 2010. He is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Maryland and holds a certification as a LEED accredited professional with a specialty in Building Design and Construction.

Tyler Brown

Tyler is a Baltimore native who attended the University of Maryland, graduating in 2008 with a mechanical engineering degree.  While at Maryland he had internships with Whiting-Turner and Captive Air Systems.  After graduating Tyler worked as a consulting engineer for 5+ years with Schlenger/Pitz & Associates and RMF Engineering, during which time he became a LEED accredited professional and earned his professional engineering license for the state of Maryland.

In 2013 Tyler joined Johnson Controls as a sales engineer, based out of Washington, DC.  In 2016 Tyler started with Advanced Thermal Solutions and continues to work with owners, contractors and engineers to provide efficient and innovative HVAC solutions in the Baltimore and Washington, DC markets.

Sean Ek

In 2010, Sean Ek joined Advanced Thermal Solutions as a Sales Engineer. He attended Virginia Tech earning a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Systems Engineering with a Minor in Marketing. Sean began his career with Johnson Controls, Inc. as a HVAC Sales Engineer climbing the ranks over 3.5 years before moving to the rep world. Sean has been a member of ASHRAE since 2007 and supports the local MCA chapter. He is an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and passionately follows Virginia Tech football.

Mike Chapman

In 2006, Mike Chapman joined Advanced Thermal Solutions’ to work with its growing service department as well as filling the role of VFD Specialist. He received his BSEE and U.S. Army commission from Virginia Military Institute. After serving five years in various duty assignments, Mike applied his leadership, management and technical skills in the automation and controls industry in positions as a territory sales manager, control systems integration, and new product marketing manager. In 2004, an opportunity to transition this experience to the HVAC market came with Trane in Baltimore, MD and has continued for over ten years with ATS. In addition to working with the service group, Mike conducts VFD training for customers at our new facility in Linthicum, MD, supports field sales engineering efforts, is certified to train ABB factory start-up personnel and is often seen in the field during busy periods. He is married with three children and enjoys playing music in a band, the great outdoors, and shooting sports.

Erin Maeby

Erin has worked for Advanced Thermal Solutions since 2008. Born and raised in the Baltimore area, she stayed for college and received her Associates of Accounting from Community College of Baltimore County. Post-graduation she continued her education at Towson University. Erin is a member of the ABC Women’s Board. She is a proud mother of two children and happily married to her high school sweetheart.
