ATS provides comprehensive service and support for Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s). As an ABB Designated Service Station, we provide quality services to our Maryland, Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia customers.
With a dedicated sales team and a support staff from leading manufacturers in the HVAC industry, Advanced Thermal Solutions brings broad based knowledge and experience to assist with design, construction, retrofit, and specialty applications. In addition to healthcare, pharmaceutical, government, and commercial applications, we are constantly exploring emerging markets and specialty applications.
Gus is the President of Advanced Thermal Solutions (ATS). He attended Baltimore Polytechnic High School and graduated from Drexel University with a BSME and was accredited with his EIT.
Gus has 25 years of experience as a Manufacturer’s Representative in the HVAC and Air Distribution Industry. This foundation continues to contribute to the ongoing growth of Advanced Thermal Solutions specializing in Commercial Custom Air Handling Units and Variable Frequency Drives, as well as, top tier HVAC Product Lines and Product Service & Engineering Solutions.
Gus is committed to the Engineering Community and is an active member of ASHRAE (Past President 93-94), The Building Congress and Exchange, and The Engineering Society of Baltimore. Gus also serves on the Board of The Community College of Baltimore County.
Over the course of 13 years, Kurt Wallace has distinguished himself in the HVAC industry as a Sales Engineer focused on customer support. His hands on experience in the HVAC industry and entrepreneurial spirit has allowed him to provide industry leading HVAC products and a high level of customer support in his role as Vice President of Advanced Thermal Solutions.
Forging strong relationships with manufacturers and end users, his clear vision guides all aspects of the business, bringing with him an unparalleled commitment to integrity, service, and attention to detail set forth by the customer. Kurt has been a member of ASHRAE and CASHE where he served on the CAB Board.
As a Maryland native and graduate from Washington College, his undergrad studies provided Kurt with a balance between business classes, college baseball and an internship that lead to a position serving as an Intelligence Officer for the Office of Naval Intelligence. He was also a member of Kappa Alpha Order.
Greg started his career as a sales engineer in the HVAC industry in 1992. With over 22 years of experience servicing owners, engineers, and contractors in the mechanical construction industry he has gained a great deal of understanding what the customer requires. Greg graduated from Temple University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1992 and continued his education at night to receive his MBA from Temple University in 1999 while working as a sales engineer.
In 2010 Greg joined ATS as a sales engineer to help expand the product lines available in the DC Metro area. The team has experienced continued growth in these products and market areas since Greg joined the team.
In 2010, Sean Ek joined Advanced Thermal Solutions as a Sales Engineer. He attend Virginia Tech earning a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Systems Engineering with a Minor in Marketing. Sean began his career with Johnson Controls, Inc. as a HVAC Sales Engineer climbing the ranks over 3.5 years before moving to the rep world. Sean has been a member of ASHRAE since 2007 and supports the local MCA chapter. He is an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and passionately follows Virginia Tech football.
Starting in chemical production plants, Richard Wismer practiced engineering design and management in a wide range of industrial and HVAC projects. He is a graduate of Villanova University and has been a registered professional engineer for over 20 years. Active in launching Advanced Thermal Solutions as an independent representative firm, Rich returned to ATS in 2014. He provides consultation as a variable frequency drive specialist as well as sales and engineering support in key product lines.
Matt has worked at Advanced Thermal solutions since 2012. He graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park where he studied Mechanical Engineering. Matt has lived in the Baltimore area all his life and has recently moved to the Federal Hill neighborhood in the city.
Prior to starting his career in sales, Jonathan worked with various contracting companies during his winter & summer breaks in college. Dealing with project managers, foremen, laborers & even engineers Jonathan developed problem solving skills and gained an understanding of customer’s expectations throughout the life cycle of a construction project. After graduating from Coastal Carolina in 2010 with a degree in Business Management, Jonathan joined ATS as a sales assistant. Jonathan has worked his way up to a sales position where he deals with contractors on a day-to-day basis. Jonathan is very active is various professional organizations such as ASHRAE (Baltimore Chapter), Building Congress & Exchange, Maryland Construction Network, & Maryland Contractors Association. Jonathan is a VERY avid golfer and during the season he tries to spend his time outside of work on the course with friends. He also really enjoys spending time with his family in northern Baltimore county or down at Ocean City, Maryland during the summer.
In 2006, Mike Chapman joined Advanced Thermal Solutions’ to manage its growing service department as well as filling the role of VFD Specialist. He received his BSEE and U.S. Army commission from Virginia Military Institute. After serving five years in various duty assignments, Mike applied his leadership, management and technical skills in the automation and controls industry in positions as a territory sales manager, control systems integration, and new product marketing manager. In 2004, an opportunity to transition this experience to the HVAC market came with Trane in Baltimore, MD and has continued for over ten years with ATS. In addition to directing the service group, Mike conducts VFD training for customers at our new facility in Linthicum, MD, supports field sales engineering efforts, is certified to train ABB factory start-up personnel and is often seen in the field during busy periods. He is married with three children and enjoys playing music in a band, the great outdoors, and shooting sports.
Jon was born in Middle River, MD and joined the Navy in 2000 out of high school. He served our country during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, among others. During that time Jon worked in the boiler/engine room, the oil and water testing lab, and the Fire/CBR response teams. From 2004-2006 he was a ships chandler. After the service he worked for a Baltimore-based mechanical contractor installing mini-split AC units and dual temperature systems. In 2008 he started with ATS as a service technician. Jon’s main functions include completing service, commissioning and repairs to all ATS product, mainly ABB variable frequency drives.
Nate Rush has had an interest in electronics his whole life. Since he was young, he has taken things apart to understand how they worked. He took many tech classes in high school where he learned basic wiring and simple electronics. Senior year he attended a tech specific school where he received a Mechatronics Certificate. Prior to joining ATS, Nate worked on electrical equipment for a pharmaceutical company.
Nathaniel has worked for Advanced Thermal Solutions since 2013 as a technician. He is a Maryland native, currently attending the Community College of Baltimore County with plans transfer to UMBC to pursue a degree in engineering. He presently lives in Perry Hall.
Erin has worked for Advanced Thermal Solutions since 2008. Born and raised in the Baltimore area, she stayed for college and received her Associates of Accounting from Community College of Baltimore County. Post-graduation she continued her education at Towson University. Erin is a member of the ABC Women’s Board. She is a proud mother of two children and happily married to her high school sweetheart.
Matt graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Before joining ATS, he worked as a project engineer for Whiting-Turner where he specialized in interior renovations & new apartment projects. He prepares proposals & submittals for ATS and works with clients to determine technical solutions to HVAC issues. Matt is a LEED AP in Building Design & Construction.
Tyler is a Baltimore native who attended the University of Maryland, graduating in 2008 with a mechanical engineering degree. While at Maryland he had internships with Whiting-Turner and Captive Air Systems. After graduating Tyler worked as a consulting engineer for 5+ years with Schlenger/Pitz & Associates and RMF Engineering, during which time he became a LEED accredited professional and earned his professional engineering license for the state of Maryland.
In 2013 Tyler joined Johnson Controls as a sales engineer, based out of Washington, DC. In 2016 Tyler started with Advanced Thermal Solutions and continues to work with owners, contractors and engineers to provide efficient and innovative HVAC solutions in the Baltimore and Washington, DC markets.
